Although Paris is known as the city of lights last week it was the city of Couture , Haute Couture. The process of dress making on a strictly made to measure basis requiring several fittings to secure the precise measurements of the client . This labor intensive process is almost entirely done by hand which many times require price points that might mirror the down payment of a Beverly Hills home.
Lebanese Couturier Zuhair Murad paid homage to the American Indian using intricate beading , fringe and feathers duplicating the beautiful midwest landscapes of my Native ancestors sacred land in separates and his famous red carpet show stoppers just in time for the Oscars .
“The structure and graphism Hubert de Givenchy had in his work at the beginning “ is what Waight Keller said was her goal in creating her first Couture collection for The House of Givenchy since the departure of Riccardo Tisci. The atmosphere and music that filled the air made you feel like you were on a boat traveling down the river Seine on a moon lit night in Springtime . There was a strong female sensuality about the Givenchy woman . One of my favorite looks was fitted black black turtleneck with storng 80s shoulders tucked into a degrade skirt that flowed from magenta to scarlet red and grazing the floor in Robins blue egg blue plisse . There was no shortage of luxury for Givenchy client with a restrained use of jet beading and feathers .
“ Freezing the glamour of the accidental , magical moment” is what John Galliano said about capturing in his latest collection for Maison Margiela . There were no photographers on the defile (runway) as per usual but guests were encouraged to use flash on they’re smart phones . He used super hydro techno fabrications such as prism film and PVC as a vehicle to portray color . There was so many iridescent surfaces in each garment that might be naked to the eye. No ones persons picture would be the same of the same look because of these other worldly fabrics . John Galliano is slowly and methodically becoming a leader once again in the world of Haute Couture with relaxed glamour.
