Last week I attended the International Beauty Show at the Javits Center in NYC. Aside from its resemblance to a psychedelic circus, there were definitely some exciting things happening in the hair world. IBS is an annual trade and trend show that hosts a variety of vendors, and features the top beauty professionals in the industry. makeup artists, stylists, manicurist, estheticians, educators, and anyone that is interested in the world of beauty come together in one space to showcase and see what’s new, now, and next.
My main interest was the educational aspect of the convention—because no one ever becomes great without some learning going on! I really enjoyed the TeachIn, a live look and learn class geared towards stylists and colorists. Hairdressers came from everywhere to observe some of the best in their field cut and color hair live on stage.
I was really excited to watch two of my favorite women stylists cut some amazing hair! Here are their finished looks from the seminar. The pink crop was described by cutter Emily Costello as if a runaway had chopped off her own hair and dyed it pink in DIY bathroom moment.
